Royal Visit to Pakistan

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Pakistan on October. 14, 2019 at 9:30 pm. Since their first moment in Pakistan they have been impressing the whole nation with their warm smiles and cozy attitude towards Pakistan. On October. 15, 2019, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, met students and teachers at Islamabad Medical College for Girls, got themselves entertained at the Pakistan Monument by meeting the stunning personalities of Pakistan. They went for view sighting of Karakoram Range in the North of Pakistan and enjoyed the colorful dance of residents of Kalash Valley on October. 16, 2019.

On October. 17, 2019, Prince William and Kate Middleton visited the National Cricket Academy of Pakistan in Lahore, the very famous Badshahi Mosque which is counted among one of world's biggest mosques and also visited the SOS Children's Village in Lahore which aims to improve the lives of orphan children in an educated and groomed way. The fourth place they visited on the same day was Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital where the Duchess enjoyed the Tea and Tiaras party by a small cancer patient.

The royal couple were amazed by seeing such a great variety of Pakistan in such a short time and were really happy during their whole trip. The Duke of Cambridge even spoke URDU (National Language of Pakistan) at the Pakistan Monument. Kate Middleton also spoke URDU during her short address in the SOS Children's Village in Lahore and also greeted three children with her warm wishes for their birthday.

The most beautiful thing about the royal couple's trip is that all their visits in different parts of Pakistan highlight a social or environmental cause. This trip has brought the attention of International audience towards so many heart touching and mind opening topics of Pakistan. These include:

  • How students are benefiting from the ‘Teach for Pakistan’ programme.

  • The stark effects of climate change and global warming on the communities that call the region home.
  • Seeing the SOS Children's Village which provides a home and family structure to over 150 young girls and boys in Lahore, and promotes the development of children into happy, confident and resilient adults.
  • Promoting British Council’s DOSTI programme at National Cricket Academy, Pakistan.
  • Learning about the lives of patients at Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, Pakistan.
  • Supervising the Pakistan Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) programme, which in part breeds and trains dogs to identify explosive devices.

Moreover, Kate Middleton's dressing sense and style has worked wonders for her in two ways.

  • Firstly, Pakistani people were extremely happy seeing her adopting their culture with such an ease, beauty and style. She mostly dressed in green outfits for creating a symbol of respect and resemblance with the National colors of Pakistan i.e. Green and White.

  • Secondly she earned respect from 21 million hearts of Pakistan as she resembled the People's Princess (Princess Diana's) looks during all her trip. This wasn't the first time Kate Middleton has adopted Princess of Wales, Diana's style. A beautiful resemblance is seen in the dressing style of Diana Marks Spencer and Kate Middleton at many occasions. Pakistani people also love her from the perspective of adopting Princess Diana's style too. Her all Eastern outfits caught the image of eastern outfits worn by Princess Diana in Pakistan.

I'll conclude the topic by saying, Pakistan has earned the spotlight of whole world due to its vast variety people have seen through this magnificent royal trip. Past experiences and misinterpretations only present Pakistan as a terrorist country but the Royal Trip of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shows that:

"Pakistan is a country with a great variety and strong culture showcasing its own set of beliefs and warm values. The people of Pakistan are not terrorist but human beings who are ready to welcome their religious and non-religious friends in the time of peace and also in the time of need"
